Knowledge of the theory
The theory course will provide you with knowledge of how a yacht is built and organized, how sails work, the navigation and piloting, boating rules and safety. Without understanding the physics of sailing a yacht, practice alone won't work. Your instructor's competence and ability to teach are critical to successful learing (to inspire + to engage + to achieve understanding of the essence of the subject)
Practical skills
Obviously, sailing a yacht is a purely practical process, therefore only practice will open up your confidence and give you the skills to safely sail a yacht. Theory alone, without practice, is not enough. But even after going through your first or second practical training, even when you get your sailing license - you should keep building your "sea-miles" - your time at the helm at sea - an experience that will turn your skipper skills into automatic reflexes. That's when you will become a Captain.
Skipper license
You need this license to legally skipper a charter or private yacht. To get a license, you must complete a training course and successfully pass theoretical and practical exams. Successfully passing the exam is a confirmation of your competence to safely operate a vessel, and the reputational responsibility of the yachting school that issued you this license. Please take a notice that completing the training and practice does not automatically mean you get a sailing license. You must successfully pass the exams to get the skipper license.
You will get these 3 elements at H2O Yachts© Yachting School. Our objective - is your confident skills as a yacht captain.
Welcome aboard!
